One Hour from the
Border, and You're Relaxing on the Beach. El Golfo sits at the top of
the Sea of Cortez where the mighty Colorado years ago, was an inland ocean
waterway leading to the port of Yuma. Today, El Golfo is a quiet fishing village
nestled between desert mountains and miles of sandy beaches.
 September through February
is Shrimp season and you haven't had a shrimp unless you've eaten El Golfo
shrimp. Year round is clam season and El Golfo clams are absolutely some of the
best clams you'll ever have. After shrimp season, the fisherman wait for the
Corvina to come in and fish them until May. The rest of the year is for Crab and
Mexican Flounder. |

Perhaps the best feature of
El Golfo besides its friendly people, are its beautiful sandy beaches. In El
Golfo you can drive a four wheel drive, ATV, or vehicle of your choice, over 35
miles down the beach. The different sites you will see on this drive are nothing
less than incredible. One thing you don't want to miss on the drive is Sand
Dollar Beach. In an area 200 yards long, you will find everything from new Sand
Dollars to petrified Sand Dollars and the shell collecting is absolutely
fabulous. |
